
A schematic representation of the GAIAS experimental set-up is shown in Figure 1. In its initial phases, the experiment will focus on the isotopes of 113Cd and 113mCd present in CdWO₄ crystal scintillators, and in later phases, also on the isotopes of 87Rb and 99Tc, which can be incorporated into other crystal scintillators such as CsI(Tl) and NaI(Tl). These measurements will allow the extraction of the effective value of gA in certain nuclei, reducing the currently existing theoretical uncertainties, and will provide important information for next-generation experiments on the neutrino mass.
